The Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics Institute (FRPI), the organization that performs the audit and evaluations facilitating Laminating Process and Laminate Certification, is very interested in making the process of obtaining these certifications as quick and easy as possible for manufacturers who request them. To work toward achieving certification, the manufacturers simply follow the steps below:
Step 1
Completely familiarize yourself with FRPI, through exploring each and every button and link provided within this web site. Especially the What is Laminating Process Certification? and What is Laminate Certification? pages on this site.
Step 2
Learn more about FRPI certification through purchasing the FRPI standard practices for Laminating Process and Laminate Certification plus all of the FRPI laminate construction specifications available from FRPI when you order a Publication from the Resource Center.
Step 3
Request a Laminating Process Audit.
Step 4
Support FRPI audit activities at your facility, as outlined within the Laminating Process Certification standard practice.
Step 5
Receive an FRPI Laminating Process Certification. Provided FRPI determines you, the manufacturer, demonstrated that you have the capability to produce laminates that consistently meet the intent of the published FRPI standard practice for Laminating Process Certification.
Step 6
When you are awarded work requiring Laminate Certification, as specified by Owners or their Engineers, you must submit specified cutouts taken from production run laminates and engineering submittals to FRPI for evaluation per the requirements outlined in the Laminate Certification standard practice. To start this process with FRPI, Request a Laminate Analysis.
Step 7
Receive an FRPI Laminate Certification and FRPI Certified stickers for each component from which samples were evaluated prior to shipping the product fabricated with the components under evaluation. Provided FRPI determines you, the manufacturer, demonstrated that you have meet the intent of the published FRPI standard practice for Laminate Certification and the laminate samples evaluated met the intent of the project specifications.
Step 8
Ship the completed product, without the FRPI Certified stickers in place yet.
Step 9
Travel to the site where the product is completely installed, inspect the product as per the Laminate Certification standard practice and place one (1) FRPI Certified sticker on each component of the equipment that was evaluated by FRPI. Provided the component or product has not been damaged. If damage has been identified, satisfactorily repair it and then apply the FRPI Certified stickers as per the Laminate Certification standard practice guidelines.
Step 10
Return confirmation of successful installation and FRPI Certified sticker placement to FRPI per Laminate Certification standard practice guidelines.
